Meet Our Horses

Wyatt –
Wyatt All Saddled Up and Ready to Go!
He is an old hand at the trails, and likes to be in the lead – as long as there are other horses around. At 22 (as of 2017), he is pretty calm, and steady. He doesn’t seem to be bothered by much – including some of the extreme trail riding we have taken him on. Though he can be a bit of a crotchety old man in the pastures at home, on the trail he is well mannered around the other horses. Usually Matt or Rainey will ride him if their other faithful steeds are injured or otherwise engaged, but even novice riders could ride him. He is a Tennessee Walker cross.

Cricket –

Cricket on the Left, Storm on the Right

This is Rainey’s horse, and though Matt and others have ridden her, she is Rainey’s horse. Nice level headed trail horse who has a good pace and isn’t afraid to be out in front. She also likes to canter up and down hills if you let her - which I think is fun. She is a papered paint.

Storm –

Blue Eyed Storm
Rainey has labelled her “Matt’s horse” but she is being leased off-site this summer so he may not get a lot of riding on her this summer (2017). She is half paint, half draft and is bit flashy with her black face and blue eyes. She is the caboose, and will often fall behind since she definitely inherited the draft horses walking pace. During a trail ride she will have to periodically trot to catch up to the group. One down side is she is a tank in the pasture, and doesn’t take any other horses attitude, and she isn’t afraid to kick other horses, so when camping she needs to be separated from the other horses. On the trail this isn’t a problem, she is a little defensive about food.

Coco –

Good Old Coco.
This is Autumn’s horse, and she is a real gem. At 29 years of age (2017), even her swayed back won’t slow her down. She isn’t to keen on the extreme trail riding since that is light years away from her previous life as a show horse, but on a nice groomed trail she does pretty well.  She is a National Show horse.
